How To Not Burn Out

August 2022

Discuss Together

  • Over 4 million people have left their jobs (almost 1/3 of American workers) in the last year. What do you think are the underlying causes for the “Great Resignation?”
  • How do you know when it’s time to quit a job and when it’s time to keep going and push through?
  • Have you had a season where you’ve experienced a big burnout? What was the cause of it, and what happened?
  • Read Genesis 2:1-3. Why is it significant that God rested? Was He tired, or does it tell us something else?
  • Read Mark 2:27. What is the Sabbath? What have you heard about it in the past? What do you think the purpose of it is?
  • Have you tried to incorporate a day of rest and replenishment into your routine? What challenges have you run into? What have you learned?
  • Make a list of what fills your cup. Then make a list of what drains it. Share with the group. How are you doing at creating space for life-giving activities?
  • On a scale of 1-10 (1 being completely burnt out and 10 being fully energized), where are you right now?
  • What are one or two things you can do to lead yourself better?
