Discuss Together When you were eighteen years old, how did you think your life would go? Is it anywhere close to where you are right now? What are some different times you’ve had to reimagine what life looked like? It could be after something good (like starting a new job, getting married, or having a baby), or it could be after something hard (like the loss of a relationship, a health crisis, or job challenge). Now think about your life. How would you name the season of life you are currently in or are about to enter into? Read Genesis 45:4-7. What did Joseph come to realize about all the different seasons and hardships he had been through? Have you ever had gotten greater clarity down the road about what God was up to during a difficult season in your life? Share with the group. Read Genesis 50:20. What can we learn about Joseph’s mindset, both from this verse and the entire story, that allowed him to handle all these changes so well? Jeff shared how it’s important to not minimize significant transitions by grieving what we’ve lost as we move into a new season. But it’s easy to get stuck too. Are you more likely to be an over-griever (focus solely on the change and wishing it had never come) or an under-griever (moving on too quickly)? As you look ahead, is God calling you to step in (journey well through a difficult season), step up (take on new responsibility and leadership), or step out (move out of your comfort zone for the new things that God has for you)?
