DISCUSSION QUESTIONSChoose the questions for your group; no pressure to use all of them. The Last Supper series is about an in-depth conversation Jesus has with his disciples over a meal on the night before he goes to the cross. To kick things off, who in history (other than Jesus) would you most like to have a meal with, and why? Read John 13:1-8. What stands out to you about Jesus' actions in washing the disciples' feet? Why do you think Peter resisted when Jesus tried to wash his feet, and how might we sometimes resist Jesus’ acts of service or grace in our own lives? Read John 13:12-16. What example has Jesus set for us to follow? What do people experience when you walk into a room, whether it’s at home, at work, or wherever? As you picture those different environments, what posture do you think you most often take there? Read Matthew 11:29. Jesus describes himself as “gentle and lowly in heart.” How does this truth about Jesus impact our understanding of God’s character? How can we cultivate a posture of humility in our relationships—whether at home, work, or in our community? Is there a relationship or action that comes to mind when you think about following Jesus’ example? What is a practical way to "wash someone’s feet" this week? As a group, brainstorm ways you can serve others together as a group. For service project ideas, you can always look at our Do Good Locator: www.chaseoaks.org/dogood Share praises and prayer requests and take turns praying for one another. VERSE TO MEDITATE ON AND MEMORIZE THIS WEEK: Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. – John 13:14-15 PUT IT INTO PRACTICE (In-between meetings) To solidify in our minds what Jesus did in John 13, consider picking someone and literally washing their feet. Take a moment to reflect and share on this question: what area of your life do you feel Jesus inviting you to surrender to his grace and service? Make plans to carry out your ideas in questions 9 and 10, above. Pray for your group members and their requests during the week.
