Fun and Family-Friendly Easter Events Around DFW for 2023

Pastel candy, plastic eggs, and bunnies: they’re popping up everywhere, which means Easter will be here before you know it. Now’s the perfect time to plan out some seasonal, family-friendly fun to enjoy with loved ones. We’ve got a list of some of the best Easter events happening around DFW in 2023.

Easter Egg Hunts

Easter egg hunts are a classic Easter activity! Everyone has their favorites, from smaller-scale neighborhood gatherings to massive helicopter egg drops. Dig out those baskets, and check out some of the more creative options in town:

1. Kinder Joy Eggcellent Scavenger Hunt at the Dallas Zoo

Kinder Joy will host an egg-themed scavenger hunt for all ages through ZooNorth. Pick up a clue sheet at the zoo’s entry plaza, and let the hunt begin! Be sure to visit with the special Easter guest at the booth from 10 AM–2 PM.

When: Saturday, March 25, 9 AM–3 PM

Where: The Dallas Zoo

2. The 11th Annual Special Needs Egg Hunt and Resource Fair in Frisco

Especially Needed believes all families should have the ability to attend fun seasonal events with ease, so that they can focus on what's important: spending quality time with each other and making special memories.

When: Saturday, April 8, 12-3 PM

Where: Miracle League Field, Frisco

Cost: Free (families MUST register here to attend)

3. Eggscavation in Grapevine

Bring your favorite dinosaur lovers to Prehistoric Park, Grapevine’s outdoor animatronic dinosaur exhibit, during this two-day Easter event with games, crafts and plenty of photo ops.

When: Saturday–Sunday, April 1–2, 9am–8pm
Where: Meadowmere Park, Grapevine
Cost: $59 per vehicle (for up to six people). Tickets must be purchased in advance here.

4. Aqua Egg Hunt in Frisco

 For a fun twist, register for an egg hunt in the pool at Frisco’s Indoor Aquatic Center. Kids are divided by age into separate pools, and kids under 8 must wear a life jacket (provided at check-in). Every kid gets a photo-op with the Easter Bunny and a goody bag. The center will provide a mesh bag for collecting eggs in the water, but kids will need their own baskets to bring the eggs home.

When: Saturday, April 1, 9 AM–noon
Where: Frisco Athletic Center
Cost: $15 (includes a day pass to stay and play at the pool). Register online for your preferred time slot.

5. Easter Egg Hound Hunt in Plano

Bring your canine family members to hunt for dog treat-filled Easter eggs at Oak Point Park & Nature Preserve. Maximum of two dogs per person; dogs must be current on their tags and remain on non-retractable leashes (6 feet max).

When: Saturday, April 1, 9–10 AM
Where: Oak Point Park & Nature Preserve, Plano
Cost:$5 per dog for Plano residents; $9 for nonresidents. Register your pups here


Easter Brunch

Easter brunch is a time-honored tradition for many families. Countless hotels and restaurants around DFW offer special brunch menus on Easter Sunday. Look up some options online, or browse lists of popular eateries for every palate and price point here, here, here, and here.

Photos with the Easter Bunny

What’s Easter without some family bunny photos? Here are just a few opportunities to meet and greet the Bunny in DFW:

1. Spring Fling – The Village at Allen

In addition to photos, enjoy an inflatable obstacle course, train rides, and an Easter egg hunt for kids up to 10 years old.

When: Saturday, April 1, 1-4 PM
Where: The Village at Allen (Event Grove near Cold Stone Creamery)

2. Sensory Bunny – Willow Bend Mall

Sensory Bunny is opportunity for children & families with special needs to visit with the Easter Bunny in a sensory-friendly environment. Families may meet and greet the Bunny at their own pace in a calm and comforting setting, before the mall opens to the public. Each child will receive a goody basket with the purchase of a photo package, while supplies last.

When: Sunday, March 26 from 10­‑11:30 AM
Where: Willow Bend Mall, Lower-Level Macy’s Court

3. Easter Bunny Express Train Ride in Grapevine

On select dates leading up to Easter, families can ride the Grapevine Vintage Railroad train with the Easter Bunny. Kids can listen to a story reading and will receive an Easter egg filled with treats. Ride lasts approximately 1 hour.

When: April 8-9, departing at 2:20 PM and 4:20 PM
Where: Cotton Belt Depot, Historic Downtown Grapevine
Cost: $20 per ticket (tickets available later this month, here)

4. Live Bunny Photos at Watters Creek

Forget furry costumes—bring the kids to take some photos with live bunnies instead! Photographers from Silver Star Pictures will take photos with child-friendly rescue bunnies. Bunny wranglers from Wild Rescue, Inc. will be present to educate families and care for the animals.

When: Weekends from March 9 through April 8 (look here for specific times)
Where: Watters Creek, Allen TX
Cost: from $60 (a portion of all photo package proceeds will be donated to Wild Rescue, Inc.)

5. Easter Weekend at the Dallas Arboretum

Take in the breathtaking displays of Dallas Blooms, visit a live petting zoo, and enjoy other family-friendly activities and photo ops galore at one of Dallas’ favorite places to welcome spring.

When: April 8-9 (see detailed schedule here)

Where: The Dallas Arboretum
