COMMUNITY MURALS

Why Murals?

Public art has the power to not only beautify a community but also to tell great stories and celebrate things that are worth celebrating. Done well, public art can help ensure that everyone within a community feels like they belong. It can nurture a sense of pride and ownership in the places we live.

Chase Oaks Church is thrilled to be a part of the neighborhoods and cities that our campuses call home. Our mural project is not about Chase Oaks. Instead, our murals seek to celebrate and honor our communities in an artistic and compelling way.

To create these murals, we have contracted with three amazing artists who are working in collaboration. Learn more about our artists, below.

Muralists

Carlos Barboza

Born in San Jose, Costa Rica, Carlos Barboza is an award-winning, multidisciplinary artist that specializes in creating work that is larger than life. He has successfully designed and installed over 30 large-scale murals in the region, ranging from high-budget public art projects to smaller and more personal mural installations. Barboza’s creative works are fueled by his passion for the intimacy of portraiture, backed by energetic narrative components that aid in the storytelling of his works.

Dusty Gilpin

Dusty Gilpin is a Christian artist, husband and foster dad. Dusty has over 15 years of design, print, and painting experience in addition to being raised in a design studio as a child. He enjoys blending many different media, whether it be from material to digital canvas or large-scale exterior facades. Dusty's style is thoroughly influenced by typography, the outdoors, cartoons, and graffiti. His optimistic love and passion for community, nature, and typography flow through his best works.

Lindsay Zodrow

Lindsay Zodrow is a muralist, sign painter, wife, and mom of three little rascals. Though her mural company, Yo Bro, has only been around for three years, she has been tinkering with something creative for as long as she can remember. Her mural aesthetic is very color-inspired, often with floral elements and thin linework. When she isn't painting a wall, she is often doing portraiture work in her studio. A good conversation and a good cup of coffee are where she finds a lot of her inspiration.
